PLEASE NOTE
The prices quoted above are for non-commercial use. If you wish to hire me for commercial character design, the price is double for non-exclusive use and quadruple for exclusive use. Non-exclusive use means that you have the right to sell the product commercially as much as you like, but I also have the right to sell prints and merchandise of the artwork. Exclusive use means that I forfeit all rights to profit from the artwork, though I am able to display it in my portfolio or on my website.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PLACE YOUR COMMISSION

Please note that unless specified, I do not work on a time frame. The reason for this is because timing is dependent on how many commissions I have as well as how brisk my other endeavors are. If you need artwork done by a date which is closer than a 2 WEEK period then I will not accept the commission. If you DO have a deadline as it is a gift for an occasion, please specify. I am the first to admit that I am not the fastest renderer. I prefer to take my time and ensure that you have the quality work you expect from me than something quickly made that would have been three times better if given the proper time.

I retain all rights to all of the artwork that I create, but you are allowed to use your commissioned piece in any way you wish so long as it is for non-profit. What this means is that you may use and minimally modify the artwork for purposes such as your website, but that you cannot sell prints or any other form of merchandise using the artwork, nor can you sell the rights to the work to someone else. (please refer to PLEASE NOTE passage concerning commercial work)

Here is a rough description of the process for a commission:

Please send your request either via a DA note or an email. Please be as descriptive as you can be for what you want. This initial email does not need to have reference links or character descriptions, only information such as the sex of the characters, their race, how many characters, backgrounds or no, CD or no, etc. I will review your request and either accept or deny it depending on how feasible it is for me to create the work you ask for.

If I accept, I will quote you the price based on what you have requested. Should you ask for additional things afterward, the price will be modified accordingly. Once you've accepted my quote and sent me a 50% down-payment as well as links to whatever reference material you have and a more complete and detailed description of your character, you will be queued to a list of commissioners. The starting of the initial sketch initiates the working process for your commission. Though I will more than likely present you with an initial sketch as soon as possible, the inking and final coloring will only be done once I have finished all other applicants before you. Priority is first come first serve UNLESS someone has specified a specific time frame. Then that person has priority.

I will show you the artwork for approval at three different intervals. Initial sketch (which won't be in any way pretty) will give you an idea of the pose I wish to use as well as the rough facial expressions, Inking will give you a sense of the solid lines so that you can see if you like the way the final outcome will be, and the Final Colored version. Revisions for Final Color can only be made when the image is finished, though I will happily send a progress shot when requested. Once a low-res version of the final art is shown and accepted, the commissioner will please send payment for the rest of the commission (unless already done and paid in full). Once payment is received, I will send the commissioner a high-res version of the artwork as well as a higher res jpg than the initial one shown. The work will then be displayed on both DA and my website.

When you choose to commission me, here is what the prices listed above entail for you:
1- You are entitled to a minimum of 3 viewing of the commissioned work, once for the initial sketch, once for the Inked version and once for the Final version. Of course, if you've initiated a revision, the new version will be shown to you for approval.

2- You are entitled to FOUR REVISIONS throughout the whole procedure. This means that if you do not like the way an initial sketch is done, you can ask for it to be changed or adjusted (this stage is the only stage where you can ask to have the sketch completely redone). Or if you liked the sketch and made no changes but don't like small elements of the inked version, you can have that changed up to 4 times. You have the right to make these revisions at any stage of the process including the final colored stage when shown to you. HOWEVER, I will not recolor the entire piece. A revision is not a redo. It is a minor adjustment.

3- You are entitled to a high-res version of your finished drawing with either an .eps, .psd, or .tif file extension as well as a lower res .jpg version.

When you choose to commission me, you agree to the following:
1- To pay upfront 50% of the commission price. Should you reconsider your commission after it has been started and wish to terminate our agreement, this half will not be reimbursed. If you pay full price initially and wish to cancel your order after it has been started, you will be reimbursed half of the payment.

2- To provide as much information as possible so that I, as the artist, can create what you are looking for.

3- Not to redistribute or sell any of the artwork commissioned in any way where you or a second hand party will make a profit from the artwork. (only applies to non-commercial work)

A NOTE ABOUT PRICES AND SUCH
I will modify or add to this listing as things go along and as I think of other things to say. I know, it's long-winded already, but I want to make sure you are all aware of what you're getting out of the deal...:)

On a more serious note, I've been in this community for quite some time and I've seen all kinds of different opinions about what is and is not art. I feel it's very simple. If it's on this site, it's art. This site is about art. I fail to see why any one genre should be thought of as less than another. All artists put their hearts and souls into their work regardless of how they choose to express their artistic intent. Anime art is not a lesser form of art, nor is digital work. And yet, I see incredibly talented (and ofttimes popular) artists charging pitifully low amounts for their work. Even the prices I charge above are incredibly good deals. I can guarantee you that a professional Fine Artist would scoff if these prices were mentioned to him or her. You won't find these prices in a gallery either. Keep in mind that though art is not the same as a job you would take, it DOES follow the same rules. The commission for the Couple took about 65 hours to complete (give or take an hour). I made about 1.25$ an hour. I challenge anyone here to tell me that they would gladly go work at McD's  for that amount. And yet, that is exactly what some artists work for...some even less. A talent as precious as artistic creativity is given less value than flipping burgers......

Please keep this in mind before commenting on how high the prices are.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read all this and who will be commissioning me in the future. I highly appreciate the business you will be giving me and look forward to a wonderful friendship!

Until next time!

This is such a great pricing strategy, do you mind if I base my own on it?
